Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people, and achieved superstar status by his folk-inspired pop hits most of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado and settled in Aspen. A few traveled towards Colorado after hearing Denver's popular anthems to his adopted state. There isn't any another performer in the world who is as empathetic to Colorado in the same way as John Denver said G. Brown curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. Danoff wrote the tune with the inspiration of Johnny Cash, but Denver discovered an early version and knew the song would be a top 10 hit. After a few days of performing to an audience of over a hundred within Washington D.C., the musician recorded the track.
